What is CEZIH and how does it work?
CEZIH (Central Health Information System of Croatia) is the national system for health data exchange. The Law on Data and Information in Healthcare (NN 14/2019, Art. 28) mandates all healthcare institutions — practices, polyclinics and hospitals — to connect. Regulation NN 150/2024 defines technical requirements. The deadline is May 1, 2026.
What are the legal requirements for CEZIH integration?
Law NN 14/2019 in Articles 35-37 prescribes fines: up to €13,200 for legal entities per violation and up to €4,000 for responsible persons. The Ministry of Health confirmed the deadline of May 1, 2026 for all private healthcare institutions.
Do I need an AKD card?
Yes. The AKD (Employee Authentication Card) is mandatory for CEZIH access. Our local agent reads the smart card from your computer and securely communicates with CEZIH through a VPN tunnel.
How does the local agent work?
The local agent is a small desktop application installed on the computer with the smart card reader. It reads the AKD card, establishes a VPN connection and forwards SOAP requests to CEZIH. Your cloud system communicates with the agent — no complex network configuration needed.
Which specialties is the system designed for?
The system is designed for all private healthcare institutions: general medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, dermatology, gynecology, ophthalmology and other specialties. Templates and workflows adapt to your practice type.
Can I migrate data from my existing system?
Yes. We support migration from most existing systems. The process includes data analysis, mapping and test migration before going to production.
How long does setup take?
Basic setup takes 1-2 business days. With data migration and staff training, complete onboarding typically takes 5-10 business days depending on institution size.
Is the system GDPR compliant?
Absolutely. The system is designed with GDPR from the ground up: data encryption, access control, audit trails, right to erasure and data export. Data is stored in EU data centers.
